With over 25 years experience across environmental management, regulation, research and senior people leadership, Doug has operated at Executive and Board level in the public and charitable sectors. As former Chief Scientist at the Environment Agency and Science Director / Deputy Chief Executive at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, he understands first-hand the pressures of leading through complexity, crisis and large-scale organisational change. He was awarded an OBE for his contribution to environmental research and the UK Covid response.
Doug specialises in leadership transition, change and crisis management, and team development. He supports technical experts stepping into leadership roles, newly formed senior teams building trust, and leaders navigating structural and cultural transformation.
He holds a PhD in Environmental Pollution Management and a BSc (Hons) in Human Ecology, is an ICF Accredited Coach with a Certificate in Executive Coaching and Team Coaching Practice and holds Non-Executive Director and Risk and Crisis Management certifications.
